he was a poet in his mind, but a slave to the work force
nine to five, two to ten, on holidays and weekends
he sought refuge in his solitude
gave his time to the world but never felt screwed

he was an artist at heart, but a joker on the surface
people wondered why he never went out much, like his friends
never not working on a project
gave his love to the world, never needed it to reflect

and his mantra was...

pen to paper
write the story of the life you want to read
then burn the book, live it through
spread the ashes on your cheek like a tribal tattoo

he often reflected on the foolishness he sought out so much as a mischievous kid
trouble seemed like home, problems all first world
hyper emotional, everything hurt

the waiting game catches up when you're wasting time
he often tells me that his life seemed to rush by
but he is content, he knows he never lived on the sly
he spoke his mind, followed his heart, and saw the world
from his third eye

and his mantra was
